A CHAMOIS WHICH REFUSES TO TAME

THE WILD GOAT (CHAMOIS) OF CRETE

Kri-Kri, wild goat, “agrimi” or Capra Aegagrus Cretensis, however you may call it, you will always be talking about the an animal unique to Crete (as it’s latin surname, Cretensis, explains), an animal which exists solely on our island and inhabits preferably the most remote mountains. Bad news is that it is threatened with extinction.

The older people knew this animal only by the name of wild goat, or, more commonly known as “agrimi”, while for the female, the name “Sanada” was used. Indeed, on the book “Crete and the Mycenaean Civilisation”…
