The
hunt for what is presented as “the most important lost treasure of the
Mediterranean” has started from Crete, by Mr Konstantinos Vrettos and a
team of Cretan divers. Its objective the “Gold of the Jews”, confiscated
by the Jew Community of Salonique by the Nazis, which is said to be on
board of a caique, sunk near the coast of the Peloponnese by Max Merden,
an officer of the SS. Fourty six cases containing 230.000 golden
sovereigns, a sealed chest with 179 big diamonds and much more, are said
to lie at the bottom of the sea, as the previous expeditions held by Mr
Vrettos haven’t been granted with success…
