I
taught the lute to Greek children at Hawaii
I
was born in 1931 in Episkopi of Rethimnon and I was the last child of
a family of seven, a family with with a rich musical tradition. When I
was sixteen my bought me my first lyre. However I abandoned it shortly
after to
deal with the lute, an instrument that I serve piously up to today.
My
first public appearance was in a marriage in 1947 in Episkopi. This
was the beginning of an important, I believe, professional career. I
collaborated with artists as Thanasis Skordalos, G.Markogjannis, G.
Stamatogjannakis and more....
My
first personal recording was in 1954 and from there on I have recorded
30 more disks of 45 and albums. Certain of them like "Pes to mou
gianta me htipas", have become milestones in the history of
Cretan music....
