Up
there we worship God, on Earth we bow to Skordalos
I
was very young when I touched the lute for the first time, it was put
in my hands almost by force by my father, a lyre player, at a
“glenti” so I could accompany him. From there on I continued to
perform with him, however I have passed many years of my artistic life
near Thanasis Skordalos. Since then, even if I collaborated with a lot
of other artists as with Sifogjorgakis for example, I believe that
Skordalos remains unique. Generally speaking I think that Cretan music
is still very alive. There will never be another Skordalos or
Mountakis of course, but we should be happy of our music’s
evolution"
