A BARONESS AT THE LIBYAN SEA

I met Lady Marcs during her first visit to Crete, at Myrtos of Ierapetra, at the house of the poet Manolis Pratikakis, who had invited her to discover our island and the light of the Libyan Sea..

LADY MARKS - A BARONESS AT THE LIBYAN SEA

Lady Marcs was born in Athens and studied History at Great Britain. She was quickly integrated into the higher London classes and was married - on her second wedding - to Michael Marcs, co-owner of the worldwide known chain of Marks & Spencer stores. She holds the tile of Baroness - this is why she is called a “Lady” - and since the death of her husband, she holds managerial positions in 112 corporations and organizations involved with culture, research or charity. During the last few years, she is a regular article writer at S-magazine and also actively participates at the social life of Athens.
Though, the most suitable person to present to STIGMES readers who exactly Lady Marcs is, is her good friend, poet and psychiatrist Manolis Pratikakis: “Lady Marks is characterized by an arresting simplicity and a truly rare honesty. At the same time, she is a Mediterranean woman, extraverted, heartfelt, fragile, dynamic, sensitive, optimistic, characterized by the reason of Aristotle at the same time, despite her sensibility, or shall I say with her sensibility. What I particularly admire on Lady Marcs is her simplicity, the complete lack of attitude and arrogance, her image, which is not touched by the dark influence of money, glory, fame, public life…”
