EL GRECO, THE FILM: TIME FOR PREMIERE

The city of Heraklion - birthplace of El Greco - is also the birthplace of Yannis Smaragdis, the visionary creator of the film “EL GRECO”. It is also the place where the shooting took place a year ago, with the cordial participation of hundreds of people from Crete. Therefore the people of the city have every reason to eagerly expect the first worldwide premiere of the film in Heraklion. The director Yannis Smaragdis along with many other people contributing to the film will be there.

As a modern Odysseus, Yannis Smaragdis, by accomplishing to materialize the biggest production in the chronicles of Greek cinema, heads in peace for his personal "Ithaca", seeing his own dream -identified with the dream of many people- to become true:
"A dream of our city and a personal dream, that only its preparation lasted 9 years became true. I have the feeling that my personal battle even my obstinacy have been justified. I am convinced that many people believed in the necessity of creating this film for our great compatriot, the ecumenical Cretan, Dominikos Theotokopoulos. This film would not have become true without the love and support of many Cretans who were something like the “foundation stone” in its materialization".
This is a steadfast faith of the director that in any occasion does not omit to mention that “this film is not his personal project but belongs to all, it is for our country, and it is a film of national importance presenting the Cretan idiosyncrasy”...
