Yeorgos Lampathakis holds the position of art director
with the National Geographic Society for more than 25 years. He recently won his
second Emmy award for his TV production and National Geographic Special, "Asteroids:
Deadly Impact" He was born at Chania and although he has been living
and working outside Crete for more than 40 years, he is very well aware of the
contribution of the "Cretan spirit" to the formation of his
personality.
In his letter to our magazine, STIGMES, Mr. Lampathakis
writes about his carrier and feelings about Crete, "…I am deeply in
debt to this unique island [Crete], its people and tradition, for what I am
today and all I have achieved". In addition, "If there is
anything I can offer to Crete in return, is make its people proud of my
achievements abroad and promise to be worthy of the legacy they have entrusted
in me."
